As Global Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager of the AccuWeather Network, John Dokes oversees strategic branding and marketing of the largest and fastest growing weather media company in the world. With over 25 years of experience in digital and traditional marketing and a history of driving multi-million dollar revenue gains, Dokes has worked with world-renowned brands including Marvel Entertainment and MTV Networks - Viacom.

AccuWeather, with global headquarters in State College, PA, now reaches nearly 2 billion people worldwide every day through smart phones, tablets, wired and mobile internet sites, radio, television, newspapers, and the AccuWeather Network, in addition to serving over 245 of Fortune 500 companies as well as thousands of businesses worldwide.

As General Manager, Dokes plays a vital role in guiding the network’s development and expansion, continuing to strengthen the only “All Weather, All the Time” national HD weather network through innovative programming and proprietary forecast offerings to serve its growing audience.

In his role as Chief Marketing Officer, Dokes manages a cross functional team executing strategy development, enhancing the brand and marketing based on customer and industry trends. He has helped reinvent and expand the AccuWeather brand worldwide, for both consumer and business enterprise initiatives.

Dokes’ outstanding record of success at Marvel Entertainment led to a series of key responsibilities and positions including: Director of Marketing; Vice President of Marketing and Business Development; Vice President Digital Operations and Marketing; and Senior Vice President, Integrated Sales and Marketing. While at Marvel, Dokes leveraged their storyteller brand to increase sales of custom interactive ad placements, growing relationships with clients such as Siemens, Cirque Du Soleil, Benefit Cosmetics, Activision, Harley Davidson, Audi, Farmers Ins., NBA, Wyndham Hotels, Visa, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Dokes spearheaded a patent effort at Marvel for facilitating the digital viewing of illustrated content. Prior to re-joining Marvel, Dokes worked with Arnold Brand Promotions and GMR Marketing, as well as VH1 and MTV Networks.

Dokes serves as a mentor with N.A.M.I.C., advocating diversity in the telecommunications industry and on the Advisory Board of Culture Shift Labs, a consulting firm specializing in Multicultural Marketing Communications.

Dokes’ talents extend beyond the corporate boardroom. He served as a writer for the comic X-Force and as an accomplished Jazz vocalist, he has travelled the world and currently performs with the popular big band George Gee’s Swing Jazz Orchestra. He resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters and continues to write music.
